Mars One is a non-government, apolitical organization whose intent is to be the first to establish a colony on Mars through the integration of existing, readily
available technologies from industry leaders world-wide.
Over the Sun's Kai Staats worked with Mars One co-founder Bas Lansdorp in the delineation of a multi-phase approach to the ten year roll-out of the Mars One Business Plan. In specific, Staats co-authored the comprehensive Phase 1 Business Plan with Lansdorp while working with the greater Mars One team to improve web content, author press releases, and integrate a cohesive marketing strategy.
German Archaeological Institute
During his volunteer position as Interim Director of Communication for the Evangelical Luthern Church of Jordan & the Holy Land in East Jerusalem, Over the Sun's
Kai Staats was given opportunity to work with the Germany Archaeological Institute to produce a short, educational/promotional film about the four year effort to prepare
the site beneath the Church of the Redeemer in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Over the Sun's Kai Staats and Jake Fedie provide Ron Spomer Outdoors with website development, film
production, and business development.
Together, Staats and Spomer produced more than two dozen short films which ranged in topic from how to select the best boots for hunting to the mating behavior of the North American Caribou. These 3 to 7 minute shorts were designed to both educate and entertain while sharing Spomer's incredible working knowledge of and passion for the dwindling natural world.

Over the Sun provided business plan development, cash flow projection, investor relations management, and strategic planning for this successful Internet startup as it prepared for rapid growth.
July - August 2011
Kai Staats and Chris Emmel consulted with Buffalo Ranch outside of Denver Colorado to design and install a 24 solar panel array and grid-tied electric power production system. This effort included working with the county to meet wind load and electrical requirements, mechanical installation and full wiring of the system, as well as rewiring both household electrical boxes in order to optimize the system for maximum performance.

Founded by former IBM Cell product manager Ashwini Nanda, HPC Links brought to market VERTEX, an open source software platform for cross-architecture, multi-core hybrid supercomputers. Over the Sun worked with Nanda and lead VERTEX developer Greg Rodgers, former chief architect of MareNostrum, to infuse HPC Links with strategic vision and business development guidance.

RoadNarrows specializes in robotics for the research and education markets, offering intelligent accessories and support for some of the most popular robotic product
lines accepted by the academic community.
Staats' effort with RoadNarrows included the consolidation of web content and IP; re-organization and rewriting of web content for an intentional presentation; development of a marketing campaign which was initiated with immediate, local publicity leading to a larger, international audience; and the introduction of an improved, internal communications, project management, and customer management infrastructure.
Staats' conducted the negotiations for two significant customers, developed two competitive market analysis, and called upon his Industrial Design background to provide key design concepts for two new products.
September 2009 - August 2010
In October of 2008 Fixstars of Tokyo, Japan acquired the majority of the assets of the former Terra Soft Solutions, carrying forward the Yellow Dog Linux product line.
Staats served as the Chief Operations Officer for a ten month transition period, providing product management, customer relation management, and sales.
Following his departure from Fixstars, Staats continued to work as a contractor to Fixstars, helping to bring to close a 3+ year effort to provide the United States Airforce, Rom Lab, Yew York, with a massive PlayStation 3 supercomputer. This contract was awarded in January of 2010, marking the largest Sony PS3 cluster in the world at 1700 units.
